a coachman
1844 Sep 28 Sheffield Independent: Thomas Binns was charged with furious driving in the High Street. He had frequently been cautioned and had it not been that his mother was a widow, he would have been summoned several times before. Fined 40s and costs.
1847 August 21 Sheffield Independent: After taking a passenger to Chatsworth Park he died whilst swimming in the River Derwent. He was barely able to swim and got out of his depth. The death will be severely felt by his mother (Jemima) to whom, since the death of her husband a few years ago, by a coach accident, he has been of great assistance.
