1853 Jun 9 Worcester Journal: Joseph Binns was defendant in a case of disagreement with his landlord over rent for a chain shop. Case dismissed.

1860 Jun 22 Birmingham Daily Post: Wanted a vice maker or two; also a man to work a screw cutting lathe; one who has cut vice pins would be preferred. Apply to Messrs Samuel and Joseph Binns, Lye, near Stourbridge

1862 Jul 29 Birmingham Daily Post: Samuel Binns and Joseph Binns, hardware manufacturers, at Lye near Stourbridge, were plaintiffs in nisi prius court at Staffordshire Summer Assizes. Case was in regard of the quality of iron supplied to them by Isaac Jenks. Loss claimed by plaintiffs was £168 17s.
1862 Jul 30 Birmingham Daily Post: Above case jury found for the plaintiffs, damages £100. Counsel for the defence asked for a retrial which was granted.
1863 Oct 28 Worcestershire Chronicle: Five vices stolen from the premises of Joseph Binns a vice manufacturer of Lye.
1864 Jun 15 Worcestershire Chronicle: Messrs Samuel and Joseph Binns, of Lye, charged Alfred Westwood with having engaged for service for two years and leaving work without a proper cause after only 5 months. He was committed to prison for a month.
1865 Apr 21 London Gazette: 1865 Mar 31 Deed in respect of bankruptcy 12,214, a conveyance of all the estate and effects of Samuel Binns and Joseph Binns, of Lye Cradley, Worcs, vice and anvil makers, for the benefit of their creditors.
1866 Jun 2 Worcester Journal: Joseph Binns of the Lye sued James Taylor of Stourbridge for £25 , the value of a horse which had been killed through defendants negligence. It was a road traffic accident between a cart and trap travelling in oppsite directions, the trap allegedly speeding.
