1881 Census living at Chapel Lane Linthwaite, age 8, son, scholar.
1891 Census still living at Chapel Lane with parents, unmarried son, age 18, woollen brass finisher.
1896 Feb 15 Huddersfield Chronicle: Marriage on 8 Feb at the Methodist New Connexion Chapel, Mr Thomas Henry Shaw, of Milnsbridge to Miss Louisa Haigh, of Cliffe End, Lindley
1901 Census, married visitor at home of Thomas Dyson,( age 28, printer compositor), at 34 Crosfield Street, West Deby, Liverpool, age 28, brass finisher, worker.
1911 Census married head at 91 Longwood Road, Huddersfield, age 38, brass finisher, worker. House had 3 rooms
24 July 1962 The Huddersfield Daily Examiner says,"He's ninety today. Celebrating his ninetieth birthday today is Mr. Tom Shaw, a resident of Lands House Welfare Home, Raistrick. Mr. Shaw was born at Scammonden but spent most of his youth at Milnsbridge. When he was ten he began work as a "half- timer", spending part of each day at school. At fourteen he became apprenticed to an engineer. Before his retirement at the age of seventy-two, Mr. Shaw worked for about twenty years for Messrs. Thomas Broadbent and Sons Ltd., Huddersfield.
Mr. Shaw has three sons and one daughter, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren." Photographs were taken by the Huddersfield Examiner (Serial No. 2987, 1962) and copies given to Tom by R. Hutchinson-Crowther.
An obituary was published in the local Huddersfield news paper: "A ninety-three-year old resident at the Homestead, Almondbury, Mr. Thomas Henry Shaw, died yeserday. Mr. Shaw was..... [ continued from nintieth birthday announcement above]
After his wife died and his daughter left to be married and live in York he continued to live alone in a "back to back, one up one down" with cellar and outside toilet at 91 Longwood Road, Longwood,Huddersfield. He moved into an old peoples home in about 1961 at the age of 88.
